I have just finished the lovely game Portal. I say just, I finished it yesterday but I’ve only just thought to post about it. It’s a wonderful little game requiring some rather silly physics manipulation, but what really distinguishes it from the pack is the fact that it’s genuinely laugh out loud funny quite a lot of the time.
Seriously, most games attempts at humour are limited to the sort of thing that would make your average 13 year old say “Oh I say, that’s a bit blue isn’t it?”. Portal’s writing is genuinely great, from the apparently deranged computer directing you about to the gun turrets who are very polite even when riddling you with bullets.
If you don’t believe me, have a listen to this - the song from the closing credits. If you have any interest in playing the game then don’t listen as it’s got a few spoilers in there. Ish. Sort of.
